Replicable Model? What Liberal Arts Peers Can Learn from Robins' Rise
Business school recognized again for undergraduate excellence
The University of Richmond’s Robins School of Business continues to earn national recognition for the strength of its undergraduate education, placing No. 17 nationally in the 2026 Poets&Quants ranking of undergraduate business schools — the fifth consecutive year the school has ranked in the top 20.
The sustained ranking reflects the strength of the Robins’ model: delivering the scale and scope of a professionally focused business education with the deliberate, student-centered focus of a liberal arts setting. Students benefit from small classes, close faculty mentorship, and interdisciplinary learning while engaging in applied experiences that connect academic theory to real-world practice.
Career preparation remains a defining strength at the Robins School of Business. In the 2026 Poets&Quants rankings, the school placed No. 15 nationally for career outcomes, reflecting strong employment and graduate placement results. The Robins School also moved up eight places to No. 17 for academic experience and ranked No. 21 for admissions standards.
Local Business Problems, Richmond Student Solutions
A hallmark of the Robins School experience is the integration of experiential learning throughout the curriculum. Students regularly partner with Richmond-area businesses and nonprofit organizations through programs such as the Spider Business Hub, where they provide consulting support in areas including data analytics, marketing, and organizational strategy. These engagements allow students to build professional portfolios while contributing immediate value to regional organizations.
Managing Real Money, Developing Real Judgement
Students also gain exposure to investment management through the Student Managed Investment Fund, which gives undergraduates responsibility for managing a portion of the University’s endowment portfolio. Entrepreneurial learning opportunities further extend this applied approach. In Bench Top Innovations, a program for seniors, students launch a food or beverage product from concept to market, managing sourcing, branding, distribution, and revenue generation within a nine-month timeline.
"We are proud that these rankings reflect our commitment to preparing students for meaningful careers and leadership."
Building the Network Before They Need It
Students in the Robins School consistently engage in professional development through structured mentorship and community-building initiatives that connect them with faculty, alumni, and industry leaders. Programs such as Endeavor RSB and Robins PRO provide integrated support across the undergraduate journey, combining residential learning, skills development, and direct engagement with executives in residence.
Dean Mickey Quiñones notes that the continued national recognition reflects the school’s long-standing emphasis on pairing rigorous academics with practical application.
“We are proud that these rankings reflect our commitment to preparing students for meaningful careers and leadership,” Quiñones said. “At Robins, students develop the analytical skills, ethical grounding, and professional confidence needed to make a lasting impact.”
As higher education leaders increasingly evaluate the role of business education within liberal arts institutions, Robins offers a model that aligns disciplinary depth with broad-based intellectual development — demonstrating how business programs can strengthen and compliment a liberal arts mission.
